Remote position for an early full-stack engineer at a seed-stage startup, working on investment literacy. Role provides high level of autonomy and ownership building end-to-end features in a wrapped mobile javascript app (Preact, Node.js, PostgreSQL). Candidate should be able to identify 80% of impact that requires 20% work, and stay focused on the current needs and scope of the application.
At least 3-4 years of full stack development experience at a technology company (preferably consumer) is required. It would be important to understand how to build apps that work on multiple devices that have very little edge cases and weird states. Experience with react is strongly recommended.
Typically work happens during 7:00-15:00 EST timezone, at least 3-4h overlap is desirable.

Archimedes is an early stage startup out to create a trusted platform for people to learn investing and make it a bigger part of their lives. Our users will learn in a fun and accessible manner through engaging content. We believe that the journey to become a more informed investor shouldn't start on social media or google.

This Role
Archimedes is looking for a remote Software Engineer to join our team. As one of our early engineers, you will have the opportunity to directly influence and build a better financial future for every investor.
The end-to-end product experiences you ship will help define the direction of our company. We are looking for a developer who can take ownership of a problem space and can rapidly create scalable solutions for both the front-end and the back-end with little oversight. Performance (loading and rendering) and codesize (amount of 3d-party libraries) is something that you will prioritize.
Ideally you aren't afraid of uncertainty and the process of building zero-to-one, and are someone who can collaborate with all members of our team.
We're fully remote and collaborate within the hours of 7:00-15:00 EST with some flexibility.
Tech Stack
The mobile application has the front-end written in preact with a RESTful node.js backend. We also use a set of in-house tools and helpers. We use PostgreSQL quite heavily for CRUD, analytics and in some cases triggers. There are some animated 3d scenes made with THREE.js. Intricate animations in the UI use react-spring.
The web app is published with wrappers for android and iOS, with a bit of custom code for notifications and auth. We use integrational browser specs with puppeteer, and automatic deployments on Heroku.
